  • Description: An unfortunate orphan girl, Liza, who works in a couture atelier, is suddenly fired by her woman boss because of the latter’s feelings of jealousy and suspicion. At the same time, her aunt kicks her out of the house, and she is left with nothing. Young Kostas, who works in a garage and is in love with her, offers her food and a place to stay. He proposes to her, but death gets to him first, as he is killed in a car accident. Liza, feeling utterly desperate, is contemplating suicide but ends up in a cabaret in Troumpa. A year later, she meets by chance a friend and colleague of Kostas, Giorgos, who was also in love with her. His love for her is rekindled, and he introduces her to his father, who welcomes her. Liza, however, believing that her sinful life stands as an obstacle to their happiness, decides to disappear from Giorgos’ life. Months later, however, he meets her again in Thessaloniki, where she is working the streets as a prostitute. Liza, trying to avoid him, lest he see her in this condition, gets run over by a car and expires in his arms.
